A downloadable game for Windows and Android

Collect bugs to defends against other invading insects! This is Bug Defence Tower, a tower defence game where you start with one tower, an anthill. You must complete the first level with just ants but you can use coins earned to unlock new bug towers.

Controls
Most of it is point and click but there are some keys you can press that are not mentioned in game yet. (I forgot to mention them)

Next Wave - Spacebar can be pressed to start a new wave
Speed - The S key can toggle the speed of the game
Info - The I key can toggle the enemies' health bars on and off
Pause - The P key can pause and resume the game
Back - Backspace or Escape will allow you to exit a level or go to previous room

File Selection
There are three empty files so you can share!

Upgrade
Some towers can be upgraded by clicking on them after they have been placed.

Evolve
Only one tower has a bug that evolves right now. The caterpillar starts as a weak ground unit that transforms first into a motionless cocoon, then finally emerging as a beautiful, deadly, butterfly!

Unlock
Purchase new towers with coins you earned in each level. If you complete a level without losing a heart you will earn a gem. Collecting gems unlocks new backgrounds and save icons for your file. Also, for every two gems you collect, the starting amount of coins for each level will go up by five.

Installation
There are two downloads, one for windows and one for android. For windows install, just run the executable and follow instructions on the installer. Your antivirus will likely want to scan the file, you can ignore it or wait to see its fine. With android systems download the apk and allow your device to install, you must give it permission to download.

Feedback much appreciated
Please leave feedback, anything helps! I started working on this several years ago and had almost scrapped it, but recently I have been working on it again and wanted to
share what I had. I hope you have fun!

If you really enjoyed the game please consider donating something to allow me to work on this project more often.

I just beat level 11 with one life remaining! Now, I need to go back and get the gems..

Have fun collecting the Gems :)

You are getting to a point in the game that I haven't balanced out enough, and there may be some Towers that do not work so let me know if something crashes the game!

I love this game! I like the pixel work and the music is great. I also like the sfx. It's a little bit addicting. All the different types of bugs make the game interesting, and makes collecting them fun. What I would like to see are maybe boss levels, somehow? Like a snake, or a bird? And it would be helpful to know which bugs are on which team. Anyway, this game is great.

Thank you for playing! I have some plans for putting in some bosses, but I was thinking about making a snail or slug for the first boss, maybe a frog. Also, the snake and bird bosses are great ideas!

This is overall a really fun little tower defense game. I like the games music and most of the visuals is pretty good, but especially the background tiles looks a bit blurry. The game could use a bit more speed options, and it's a bit difficult too see where bugs comes from and where they goes toward. The tutorial and upgrade system overall works very well, but it's a bit weird that the defense bugs works a bit different then the same kind of attaching bugs.

But overall is this a fun and pretty well made tower defense game. Well done.

Thank you for playing! The music is from a humble bundle, but I made most of the other sound effects. The blurry background may be because of the smoothing option I have set on by default. I couldn't decide if I wanted the smoothing on or off, so there is an option to turn it off.

I was thinking of adding one more speed option between the two I have now. The flag was supposed to be a subtle indication of where the enemies are headed, but I didn't mention that in the tutorial, I will add this in the next update.

I am still tinkering with the way the bugs work, but I will have them move the same speed in the next update. Not sure if that was what made them look so different.

Glad you had fun and thanks for taking the time to write this.

Love this game

I'm happy you feel that way!
